The elementary school (K-5) features a curriculum of daily Bible instruction, language arts (reading, writing, spelling, listening and memorization), math, science, social studies, and physical education skills. Extra activities that are worked into the schedule include art, Spanish, music and computer training. An important aspect of SMCS’s teaching is the integration of Biblical truth within all subject areas.
The elementary faculty combines creative teaching with loving concern for each child in well-disciplined classes as a means to facilitate student learning. Spiritual growth in students is fostered by Bible study, special chapels and programs, missionary projects, and the daily model of a teacher committed to Jesus Christ.
The academic emphasis is on a well rounded program which stresses important skills in math and reading. Participation in annual spelling bees helps promote higher student achievement. Educational field trips are taken throughout the year to places that coincide with the classroom subjects being studied
